Please explain what the stong points are and good manufactures; ASUS, ABIT, etc...

Thanks for your input...

I'm brand spanking new to AMD so any other warnings or helpful tips would be great....

Well, although I'm an Asus fan, the EPoX EP-8K7A has my vote for the DDR+AMD setup. It can overclock, it's VERY stable, very fast, and it's affordable. Can't beat that in a motherboard!

The Asus A7M266 has no multiplier adjustments, so if you're an overclocker, you're SOL...UNLESS you are willing to do a mod to the board to get multiplier adjustments. Otherwise, it's a decent board overall.

Abit....I won't go there...and either should you. ;) (My opinion, no flaming!:))

The MSI K7 Master is a good one, too. I've never used any of the boards above, however, but I've read MANY articles on them and EPoX wins them all.

Good luck and happy computing!

DDR board, I'd go MSI K7 Master, or Abit's KG7-RAID once it's price comes back to earth.

I hate Asus "big Bug". So, maybe you can wait the Abit KG7(mid July), or take a Epox EP-8K7A now. Work fine.

it has 1MHz increments in FSB speed, so it's hardly like your unable to overclock. Instead of unlocking the multiplier you could phyusically change it on the processor to overclock by multiplier or you can rely upon the FSB settings. While not ideal it's still an excellent board for overclocking.

EPOX 8k7a...can't go wrong except you can't use alpha pep...but there's a whole lot of other HSF"s out there.
