Recomend me an lcd

Been doing some reading and the viewsonic VP171b-2 looks like the winner. Btw is this a 6-bit or 8-bit panel

Now I see that the first one I put up was a 6-bit. Now I found a slightly more expensive yet has an 8-bit panel. But I can't find any info or reviews on it.

I am looking to spend around $300 and the monitor must fall into these categories

Must have dvi
At least 17" (Quality is better than quanity)
No higher than 12ms response time
Must be good all around (games, web browsing, video)
Prefer an 8-bit panel
I dont really want integrated speakers.

So tell me what you think. Is their something else that will beat this beast for around the same price?

I called viewsonic and they told me both panels were 8-bit. Which conflicts with a lot of the reviews on the VP171b-2. Since the VP730b has 16.7 colors in all the product decsriptions I have seen I am going to go with that one from zzf.
