Beaten by seconds by another thread (in a way), I'm more interested in looking for a DSLR.

I currently have a Canon EOS A2 that's about 6-8 years old that I don't use much at all because of the pain / expense of getting film developed.

I'd love to get back into photography again; my Pentax Optio S is nice for quick shots but has terrible quality especially in adverse lighting conditions.

Most of my shots would probably be landscape photography. Not much action at all. I may consider dabbling in macro but that requires another lens and flash which I don't want to buy at the moment.

I'd prefer the EOS 10D just because I'm under the impression that my existing lenses will work with it, but I hear good things about the Nikon D70.

Thoughts?

Digital Rebel (300D)... you can leverage your existing investment in Canon Lenses (as well as the overall layout and interface which is similar across the entire EOS line). I used an EOS Elan for years before getting a 300D last year and I think it's awesome.

l2c

Edit: That is unless you have a budget well over $1000 in which case wait for the newer Canon bodies coming out later this year.

The 10D and D70 are in quite different price ranges. But if you've got the Canon lenses already, no use in rebuying them so stick to Canon.

Hm, good point. I don't muck with advanced settings as much as I should so maybe I can deal with the 300D.

yah definitely. the eos10D is a sweet camera. if you have the money go for the eos1D. at any rate, i agree with atom, it would be foolish to switch camera brands when you already have lenses for the canon, so stick with canon. if money is a big issue, the digital rebel also is a solid camera for the money.

EOS Digital Rebel or EOS 10D

You could buy a used body too on respectable photography forums too as quite a few photographers are currently selling their 10Ds to switch to Mark II.

a buddy of mine just picked up the 300d and is VERY satisfied with it. If you had the budget for a 10d, I'd wait until Canon releases the new DSLR's.
