Today, I found myself home alone, with a steak in the fridge. Naturally, I was going to try a new recipe, as I always do when I'm the only person I cook for. Some times I make something straight from the pits of hell, some times I make something you'd kill for. Today, I made something you'd sell your own mother for, and I'm gonna give YOU GUYS the recipe. Here we go:
In one bowl, mix:
1.5 tablespoon honey
1.5 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar (if you don't have any, add a teaspoon of lemon juice)
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 tablespoon oregano
1 teaspoon of salt
1 teaspoon of pepper
1 teaspoon of garlic powder
Mix them all thoroughly, take a plastic bag (ziploc, or one you'd normally put your garbage in, not the black ones, the see-through ones), add the steak. Then, add the marinade, and close the bag (either with the ziploc thingie or just with a knot), and mush it around a bit.
Leave in the fridge for 1-2 hours.
When cooking:
Add a large knob of butter in a pan. Wait until golden brown. Take steak out of fridge, and take it out of the bag. Put it in the pan, wait for it to sear shut. Turn ONLY once, to sear the other side. Turn again to brown one side.
After about 3 minutes, take the steak out, and slice it in a couple of pieces. Quickly put it back in the pan again, shaking thoroughly for another minute. Serve with the gravy.
Please note that this recipe is for 1 steak. If you want to make four, for example, multiply everything by 4.
My dinner consisted of:
1 quickly marinated steak
Potato crisps
Cucumber salad
