Ok, I love steak, so here's my favorite way to cook it:
I buy tenderloins (filet mignons) from Sam's club. About 20 bucks for 4 THICK ones.
Here's what you'll need: The steak, obviously, Kikkoman's teriyaki with roasted garlic, worstershire sauce, salt and pepper.
Put a filet in a sandwich bag. Pour some Kikkoman's in, enough so it covers about half the steak when it's laid down. About 4 good squirts of worstershire sauce. Pour a decent amount of pepper in. Shake it up, then put in the refrigerator for at least an hour.
I use charcoal only, Kingsford with mesquite chips added. Use more than you think you'll need...this is important. Start the fire.
When ready, take the steak and put it on a plate. Put a good layer of salt, then pepper on. Put the steak on the grill, then salt and pepper the other side. I put the grate as high as it will go away from the charcoal. Let it cook about 10 min, then flip. Keep an eye on it, take it off when the steak is 1 step before how done you want it, e.g., if you want it medium, take it off when it's medium rare. Those thick ones will keep cooking for a few minutes after they're removed.
Wait at least 5 minutes before eating. Enjoy. The taste is awesome. Don't know how this will work with thin steaks.
I know everyone has their own technique for steak, but I've never had anyone NOT like them this way.
BTW, don't sniff the Kikkoman's, it smells like the funk with all that garlic, but the final product is what counts.
