Recipe for Vanilla Frosting...

I'm going to be making non-dairy vanilla frosting tomorrow, and I was wondering if anyone had an easy recipe...I've searched google, and found a bunch of options, but many of them seem more complex than I'd like. Non-dairy basically means soy milk instead of regular milk, and pareve (that's kosher non-dairy) margarine instead of butter.

Figure I can use confectioner's sugar, soy milk, vanilla extract, and any basics like flour or margarine...I'd like to avoid anything requiring heat/stovetop; I'm looking to do this quickly and easily. Would like enough to cover a 9x13, though I can always make more...

I did find one recipe that looks like a decent shot-but does anyone know a) how much margarine is equivalent to a stick of butter and b) how much is "1 box of confectioner's sugar" (I dont have time to go to the store myself to look these up...)

thanks a lot.

While we're at it, does anyone have a recipe for vegan chicken that doesn't require cooking?

I mean, you think you make a tighter set of restrictions for your frosting? Just go buy some frosting in a can at the grocery store...

heat = not easy? whoa....

anyways just pour some powdered sugar into a container, pour about a third stick of melted butter, and add heavy cream, mix. if the consistency is not right, add more powdered sugar or cream, depending on which way you want to go. mix. repeat.

i think that's how i did it...

holy crap dude i just read your complete post, non dairy and margerine? i dunno... you can try it and see what happens

Most, if not all, frosting that is sold in stores is dairy-if it's even kosher (and my guess/recollection is that kosher, non-dairy frosting isn't that good :))...otherwise I would consider that.

LOL, heat's easy, it's just a time issue...I need to make this tomorrow before evening (shabbat), and I have class and other things to take care of. I'm looking for something along the lines of "mix these ingredients, beat until frosty; spread".

well... if you can find good substitutes for butter and heavy cream, you can use my recipe... works pretty well imo. oh yea, and you whip it up with an electronic spinning thingy. i must admit though, i was never a huge fan of frosting... i always prefer icecream and plain cake.... or ice cream and some pie. ohhhh yea.......

oh yea, i dunno just put like a stick of margarine, and like 2 cups of sugar i'd say. if it turns out bad, just add some more of whatever you need.

btw, don't pay too much attention to me.... i don't cook or bake very often.... but when i do i haphazardly throw things together and hope it works.... usually turns out well.

Yeah, I'm gonna have to hope margarine can sub for butter...I'm actually pretty sure it can, but I've done it before in smaller quantities-not when it's such a large portion of the recipe. haha, yeah, I'll whip it with a "mixer" :)
