reciever/speakers/sub/crossover question

Normal setup:

All Speakers set to small
Reciever crossover set to 80hz
Sub crossover set to 80hz

Modified setup:

--Using stereo mode--

Front Speakers set to large
Sub crossover set to 45hz

Speaker range: 45hz to blah

Here's my question:

Which setup is better?

Although the decibels put out by my fronts decrease logrithmically, what if I adjust the subs crossover to 50 or 60? I have setup the sub to 50 and then 60 with only a little "doubling" at 60.

Basically I find that my fronts put out a nice, although not deep, clear bass. Paired with my sub it sounds awesome right now...."Awesomer" than the first setup...anyways 80hz for a sub 3ft away from me sounds weird...

I like to have a little overlap between the fronts and the sub as well. Receiver xover set to 60 with the sub set at 80 sounds good to my ears. Its a personal preference thing. What you dont want to do is try to make your fronts put out a lower frequency than what they were designed for.

Thanks....basically I am trying to keep the sub tending to lower frequencies. My fronts can easily output 80hz.
