If you're going to get rechargeables, get NiMH instead of NiCD. Other than that, I don't think the brand really matters. Just Panasonic and Rayovac pop into my head right now for some brands of batteries. Hope this helps.

Rayovac NIMH works fine for me. MOST important part seems to be the mah #. i think 1600 or higher will do.

I've got Raovac Ultra NiMH AA and AAA that I use for almost everything. I've got a 3-1 charger that will do a full charge in about 3 hrs. I picked up the set at Best Buy and they were cheaper than most other charger battery sets.

Thomas Distributing has a good selection and decent prices. I've ordered from them several times without difficulty. I haven't tried any AAA's, but the Powerex AA's have worked very well for me. Check out some of the package deals they have on chargers and batteries. They sometimes offer some nice bargains.

Battery Shootout

Linked.

A pretty interesting comparison.

I grabbed the NiMhs from Rayovac along with the 1hr charger. Works great and is perfect for my Rio Volt SP250 that eats alkalines for breakfast.
