Recessed lighting replacement time.

The white trim rings (halo) around all the recessed lighting in my ceilings have yellowed and cracked. They are the standard 7" outside diameter type. I am going to replace them but you can not replace just the white halo. You have to buy the halo ring and the baffle as a unit. I currently have black baffles on a white ceiling. Any benefit or reason to go with white over black? Any replacement tips?

Thanks..

Purely aesthetic in terms of benefits. If you're using an R40 Bulb, you might as well just get the Open Trims and save a couple of bucks. If you're using the smaller R30s, stick with the baffles, otherwise you'll notice the gap.

Well, white will run slightly cooler, reflect slightly more light, and match the ceiling. On the flip side, white paint tends to discolor sooner than black paint, but that's still a loooong time from now.
