'Recertified" vs "New" Monitor

Hello..whats the physical and performance difference between identical model monitors vis a vis "recertified" vs "new"?

Are recertified monitors that have just been troubleshot, repaired/reworked, and then retuned to 'sell out' used other non desirable monitors?

Specifically I am loonking to purchase a KDS AV195TF but see it offered used with a 90 day warranty at $200 and new with a 3-year limited warranty at considerably more.

I am afraid to acquire a recert monitor and see it blank/blur/distort at 91 days when limited protection can be had on a new monitor.

I am trying to keep the acquistion cost down but dont want a "dead bug" after a few months either.
Is shipping a known factor in shortening the life of an other wise well built monitor?

Can anyone characterize and profile recert vs new and the risks inherent to each given the variable eacquisition costs?
Thank you.

Personally, I prefer to buy Recirtified monitors. Not only for the cost, but for the reason that they are usually beter quality. When a monitor is built noew, most companies only do 1 quality control level check on it. If it is a recirt, it usualy has 2 or more.

I have a KDS visual sensations 17" monitor, one is new, one is used. The new one gets "wavy" lines on occasion, but the recirt ( which was $60 less ) has a better picture ( sharpness ) and does not get the wavyness.

Everyone has a different reason for new/used/recirt, so this thread should get interesting.

Exactly. Most did not work for one reason or another and were repaired. Some were just open box that are illegal to sell as "new"

If you are worried, then get a new one. Piece of mind is worth a few bucks. Everyone's risk tollerance is different.

More it is moved, the better the chance of it breaking. ( of course 🙂 )

What exactly is the price difference anyway? ( new vs. recirt?)

And by the way, I love KDS's return / excange policy. They will ship you a new one before they get the old one back. very good policy.
