Hey all. I sold a GTX 460 on ebay recently and, to my surprise, the person who bought it returned it to me claiming one of the fans would not spin. When I received the card back, I found the card to be in perfect working order with both fans working normally. I was wondering, are there any possible reasons why a card would work fine in my computer but not the computer of the guy who bought it? Anything that would cause one of the fans not to spin? My suspicion is that it was just a case of "buyer's remorse" where the guy bought it, decided he didn't want it, and so made up a story about the fan so he could return it. I can't prove that though. Wondered if anything similar has happened to any of you guys.

So far never happened. Perhaps the Buyer didn't have 2 PCI-E connectors for the GTX460? Sorry that happened. Who paid for shipping?

There's no reason that I can see for the fans to not work. I would support your buyer's remorse theory too. Hope it wasn't too much trouble to you.

Buyer's remorse

I try to avoid ebay and take my chances selling on forums or C list... To easy for a buyer to screw you on ebay.

Don't worry about why, just be thankful you got it back, and especially thankful that it's still working.

I'd be interested in picking the card up from you. Create a thread in the FS/FT forum and let's see if we can come up with a deal. My guess is the guy who purchased it from you has a bad mobo(pins) or hooked it up wrong.

I want to SLI my 460 with another so if you could include the brand/specifications and whether or not you have overclocked it at all. How long you've owned the card why are you getting rid of it? Definitely interested. Send me a PM once you're done! :)

almost certainly buyer's remorse. You're very lucky he didn't just challenge the payment and refuse to send it back.

Maybe his or her PSU didn't output enough wattage over the 12V rail despite its rating

LoL why i quit selling anything on Ebay after going 1k in the hole...

I will buy from there but if your selling on Ebay Seller beware your not going to win no matter what...

I sold some RC Cars afew years back for around 1200$...

Person filed dispute said they did not get them..

I had tracking information said they did.. Contacted the persons Post Master general and the postal worker who delivered the package and confirmed the person got the package....

Both even added by contacting Paypal and confirming the information...

Paypal reversed and gave me half my money back then turned around and withdrew it back out of my account again...

Then asked for fee's and such... I told them to shove it.. Then they turned me into collections Agent...

That Paypal Account was in my name...

Afew years later i wanted to sell a FFXI account... Got sent 1100$ 5 days later the guys says someone stole his credit card / Paypal account and they took 1100$ out of my account...

So Now im onto my wifes Paypal account.. And have not had any issues.. but it has only been 2 years...

Just some advice as a Seller it is Un thinkable how easy it is for any buyer to screw you.

I had never really put much thought in this, I suppose I should sell my cards elsewhere as well.

Just Curious, But can a buyer still do this if you have "No Returns Acccepted" ?

I'm surprised that you were able to even sell a video game account on Ebay. I thought they didn't allow that.

I've actually relisted the card on ebay. It's UK only shipping as I can't really afford the cost of shipping worldwide. I just hope the next guy who buys it doesn't turn out to be another timewaster.

Similar experience. Same reason I stopped selling on eBay. Just every know and then, a dishonest person comes around, pretends he did not receive it and I lose money. Spent hours on the phone arguing with the head office. You can't even leave a buyer negative feedback anymore. Atrocious! Unless you deal with volume or "expensive" shipping, it is just not worth it.
