The Fastest Graphics Card of 2003 - Dec 10, 2003 Review
Mainstream - Top of the Line = Name Brand roundup + Overclocking - Anandtech Feb 4th, 2004
Honestly since no new graphics card has come out in the last 6 months, it doesn't matter if the review is 4 months old.
What you should figure out is:
1) New cards will come out in 2-3 months dropping the prices on all current generation products, so how important is the videocard upgrade for you NOW?
2) How much do you play and do you want best bank for the buck performance, best performance regardless of price, or average performance at cheaper prices?
In other words what is your budget?
<$100 = GeForce 4200/4400/4600 is the best card
<$150 = Radeon 9600xt is the best card
<$210 = Radeon 9800Pro 128mb is the best card
Also you can find Nvidia 5900xt for $160-$180. Remember current ATI lineup has better antialiasing and anisotropic filtering performance and quality (for AA) than the equivalent nvidia card in the same price range.
Once you figure out how much you are willing to spend you can figure out the best card in your price range by simply searching a review like Radeon 9600xt or Pro vs. NVidia 5700 Ultra, or Radeon 9700Pro vs. Nvidia 5900xt, or Radeon 9800Pro vs. Nvidia 5900, or Radeon 9800xt vs. Nvidia 5950 Ultra
