Recent/modern FPS engines with "air strafe" movement?

I have a small project in mind, but I'm not sure which engine I'm going to develop it for. Anyhow, I'm looking for a modern engine that supports "air strafe" movement. To be clear (just in case I'm using the wrong terminology), an air strafe is when you're in the air, you can press the strafe-left button and move your mouse to the left, then your character will turn left in the air. This is a common trait of Quake and derivative engines (Source version 1 had it, not sure about the rest). It's the common movement used in "bunny hopping." I hope this makes sense.

I'd like something modern. Something that has good graphics potential, good mapping tools, modeling and animation tools, and so on. UDK comes to mind, but I'm not sure if it supports the kind of movement that I'm talking about. Also, I'm not a big fan of U-Script, but alas, it may be a necessary evil.

So what are my options? I'm looking for something free. If I ever release the mod/game, it would be free, so I'm not worried about royalties or anything like that. I just don't want to use an SDK that requires the end-user to own a $60 game, for example.

Thanks in advance for your opinions.

edit: guess that's just Source, eh? That's all I got though.

I haven't played it in ages but wasn't there any of that air strafe (or if you want "air control") in Halo: Combat Evolved? Not sure about Halo 2, 3 or 4, but I'm almost certain it was in Halo 1. Maybe it was limited to its multi-player though. It wasn't much of said air strafing from what I can remember (if it was Halo that is), but maybe that's only due to the limited parameters for said air control that the devs imposed on the character whilst in the air, when in fact the engine supports that type of air movement (just depends how much you want of it as a dev).
