Recent laws passed show the path of our country

A recent slew of laws in the U.S. have prompted the minority of Americans with common sense to cry out in protest. Among their gripes are laws including the following:

- In CA, a law now requires parents to cease all forms of punishment to children under the age of thirteen. The law was passed in response to a survey of 5-13 year olds that claim their self esteem was diminished as a result of verbal and/or physical reprimands.

- In TX, a law now states that illegal immigrants are required to prove that they have resided in the U.S. for 90 days before they may apply for a social security card, welfare, and housing assistance. The funds to support the new bill is being funded by current educational funds which are overflowing due to lack of interest in jobs for public school teachers.

- In CA, A city ordinance states that a $500 fine will be given to anyone who detonates a nuclear device within city limits.

-In NV, clubs have been ordered to hire 'plus sized women' in a response to a discrimination lawsuit where a 385lb woman was passed up for a job by a women 1/3 her size. The law also states that all tips must be shared equally among the dancers in order to compensate for the lack of customer interest for these women.

-In IL, It is legal to protest naked in front of city hall as long as you are under seventeen years of age and have legal permits

-Federal law is in the works to require men to wear some sort of top to cover their nipples in public. An advocate for womens rights says "If a womans nipples are deemed indecent, the same body part on a males anatomy should be too."

-In NY, a law is now in effect prohibiting the sale of any items that may be used as a weapon from minors. Items included are knives, swords, pens with sharp tips, baseball bats, and sporks.

-In OH, Females are forbidden from doing their own hair without being licensed by the state. Men are reported to have rejoiced as their wives "no longer look like 'something the dog dragged in'"

-In CA, a law was passed decreasing tax levels by 50% for immigrants making less than $60,001. The law is aimed at increasing their living standards while alleviating the strain on California's burdened social services programs. To maintain the lost tax revenue, lower middle class families will be placed in higher tax brackets provided household gross' over $100.00 annual income

-Federal law is moving towards requiring law enforcement agencies to take sensitivity training. The law was created in hopes of alleviating backlash against profiling. It was proposed after a man of African descent, who's family has not been to Africa in 5 generations, was detained on suspension of robbery as he walked away from an area that had just been burglarized. He was found guilty, but stated that other than being dark skinned, carrying a crowbar, and wearing all black - there was no reason for the police to ask to detain him

Some of these are true, some of them i made up. But really... this is basically the direction we're headed. You'd probably be surprised which ones I didn't make up.

What real laws have you seen recently that sicken b/c of the absurdity of it?

(this thread is a farce, intended to point out my generalized viewpoint on the direction of this country. don't take the laws too literally or seriously, they're just showing the absurdity of what CAN be passed)

You know, you should just state that some of the laws aren't true on the top of the post... in bold... or highlighted...

Cause some people don't read the bottom :D

it's like these people i know at the church i go to, their five yr old son cries ALL the time, he is a major baby.

so he's with a group of kids his age and whenever he cries (6 or 7 times at least during a 3 hour span) his mother or his older brother come running and instead of seeing what's wrong with the kid, they start yelling at the other kids, asking, OK, who made this boy cry . . .

sheesh, talk about babying a kid. this poor kid is going to have so many social problems when he grows up.

i don't get it, whenever one of my kids cries (and my boys almost never cry in public) my first thought is, "where is my kid hurt".

not these people, their first thought is, who is to blame.

EXACTLY!! That just seems to be the general direction of so much of our country.... dumb laws and the tenancy to put the blame on someone else. God forbid someone hurts your feelings!! If they do.. it's time for a lawsuit for your mental pain!!

(this thread is a farce)

Pretty much. Thanks for wasting our time.

If you're in OT, you probably don't have much better to be doing. haha

I could be reading threads that don't suck. ;)
