Recent game (PC or Console) with a terrific ending?

Alright, this question is in relation to this thread. It seems to be a trend nowadays for game companies to put in anticlimactic endings - giving the player a metaphorical "gamer's blue balls", if you will.

So, prove me wrong - what are some recent games (PC or console, doesn't matter) with great endings?

I like Max Payne 2's ending, but that's the most recent game I can think of even worth mentioning... and its over a year old now.
 
Whatever happened to the Uber 30-minute-and-longer endings we used to look forward to as a reward for beating the game? I remember playing FFVII and seeing that LONG-ass cutscene and just enjoying it cause I earned it. Nowadays it seems like everything is engineered to be a cliffhanger so you buy the sequel/expansion/card game etc etc... Gimme back my damn endings! (This is after playing HL2 and Halo 2)
 
i dunno. I am working KOTOR the original...I hear its good so it better have a kickass ending.

By the way..i just got to the part where i pick a jedi type...which way should i go?>

Hmmm Deus Ex had a good ending....
how recent are we talking about?
 
Well, not so recent anymore but Skies of Arcadia (Dreamcast) is awesome! It was touched up and re-released with a few new features on the GameCube as Skies of Arcadia Legends. I haven't played that version.

yeah right now i am guardian / soldier. Its just so hard to pick which skills and feats and stuff to upgrade.

i have only finished farcry in the last year, and i was so blind drunk i can't remember the ending so i can't telll you what it was like 😉

yeah i thought halo2 ending sucked. Some games do leave it so they can have a sequal..but they atleast make the ending good. Halo2 feels way too much like it was made specifcaly so you had to buy the next one.

Thief Series was good . . . including Deadly Shadows

DeuSex had 3 GREAT endings . . . Invisible War's 3 endings were ok for a very different sequel

KotOR had 2 good endings

Both Max Paynes' were OK

Chronicles of Riddick was good for a recent game!
(voice acting, dialog, plot and cut scenes were better than the movie):shocked:

. . . otoh, Far Cry's was beyond stupid
(gameplay made this game good)

HL2 is just set up for a sequel as PainKiller set up for BOoH which looks like to be a "series"
 
i never really got to the end of any games 🙁

i beat diablo once. i started playing it again earlier tonight....

hmm.
 
If you want a great 30+ minute ending, try Metal Gear Solid 3. The ending cinematic is around an hour long.

not true, only three times a week usually (and then usually only at night/in the evening unless it's a special occasion/i've gone fishing that day)..😉

The ending to C&C Tiberian Sun was kinda cool (when NOD won), the ending to Colin Mcrae 2.0 was the worst (my computer kept freezing on it 😛 and i never recorded finishing the game)...

Its too bad my MGS3 CD screwed up on me when I was in the late stage of the game. Could never get past a certain part without the game freeze up. Think I played up to where you fight the colonel.
