Yeah, I mentioned in another thread about my roommate getting a bogus link from someguy she knows on there. Apparently his account was compromised and was in bot mode.
Good thing she stopped before going too far.

Your wife's account got hacked. It happens. I'd just change her password and delete the offending message. Report it to facebook if it doesn't stop.

....yeah, it is on her local machine...:(, so giving it 1 more attempt at cleaning then the old image is going on, not wasting more time on this damn thing.

my buddy's account got hacked on Friday. someone updated his status to say, "i got mugged in London and lost all of my money, please help" or something. hehe

facebook creeped me out yesterday / today. i jokingly put a status update chirping my neighbour's (not any particular neighbour!) outside christmas decorations, and I got an email from a friend of a neighbour basically chewing me out......

turns out one of my "friends" felt the need to email this person, and tell her i was ripping on people in my neighbourhood.

with friends like that... guess i don't need enemies :/

It's just koobface...

its just koobface but it has changed quite a bit since the info i can find is from late 08. different registry locations, different filenames/sizes, etc. if you have a recent, 2wk or less old tut on how to remove, by all means post it here because they ones that are out are not working correctly.

Steps to never get viruses without antivirus. Why? Because it's YOU who allows the virus in. Viruses don't punch through your computer and implant themselves.

1) Don't click on suspicious links. If you do, that's fine, just don't do more.
2) If suspicious links leads to a download. Don't download.
3) IF suspicious links looks like phishing. Don't input your info.
4) If suspicious files are sent, get them inspected. EXE files are a WTFBBQ auto delete + beat the crap out of whoever sent that to you.
5) Suspicious popup messages that you have a virus are usually a hoax and clicking OK to get more crap will get you into more trouble. How does your computer know if you have a virus unless you have antivirus?

Done. I've gotten a virus ONCE in my life. I downloaded a VB script and I KNEW that was some bad stuff. I meant to delete it by clicking on it and hitting delete. I double clicked instead. BAD. This is a problem when I work so fast clicking and typing away. Screwed. Should've rightclick deleted instead.

this one used the "you need a flash upgrade" to masquerade itself. it appeared just like it would if you went to any legit page that needed the flash update - it is probably the best implementation of a "click here to d/l a virus" i have seen - it was not suspect in any manner. it was not the normal "you need a/v / malware" link
