Seems that there has been a recent drop in the prices of computers at many of the retailers. Anyone with any insight into why, when this is likely to evenout and when a good time to buy a new laptop may be given this recent market? Is it likely to drop more?

Basically a matter of the economy. Folks have less money to spend, so the demand drops, and with it, prices. If we have a further meltdown of our national credit rating, the economy will worsen, and that is not good.

There's a coupon for 25% off any refurbished Alienware laptop at the outlet center. Considering the prices are already only 2/3 of the price of new, I was able to buy a couple Alienware laptops at effectively half price.

Also, I see the price of SSD's plummeting on newegg.com. I bought one for $460 about two weeks ago. A week ago the same SSD was $425. Today it's $420.

I think this year's Black Thursday will see some insane deals.

But yes, prices are affected by supply and demand, and also by the cost to make something.

If the dollar strengthens vs the currencies in the countries that actually make the products, then the costs to us would be less, potentially.
