Recent Comcast subscribers, how timely was your installation visit?

So I have an appointment for Thursday 8-11 am.

This is in Montgomery County, MD.

I'd liek to be able to tell my boss I'll be in for sure, but say the guy is an hour late and the install takes an hour, we're already at 1 pm and it's barely worth an hour in and an hour out to spend 4 hours at work!

So can I expect the person to show up in a timely manner, or am I better off taking the whole day and playing games once it's done?

I think mine was timely but calling in for a service call usually took 2-4 days for onsite help when there was problems with their lines. I have DSL now and like it better.

They told us that if the installation guy was more than 15 minutes late, they'd pay all the installation fees. Four hours later, the installation guy comes in. It turns out their installation people were contract workers so Comcast didn't have to pay us a dime. That pissed me off.

Oh brother!

My install fee is only $30. It's trivial comapred to the inconvenience it would cause if the guy was late.

It's like if a traffic jam causes you to miss a flight and someone offers you $50.

I guess it's better than nothing, but I'd still much rather just have had everythign work out.

I'm in Northwest DC right off the Maryland border... I got a 8-11am time window and the guy showed up at 10:30; I already had a coax setup from the previous tenant so it was just a matter of plugging in a box and activating it - he was out by 10:50am. They do have some sort of on time guarantee - if they miss their window by more than 15 minutes then you get $25 is what I believe it was, but I could be wrong (this was November 05).

The montgomery county Comcast service has been very good. They're usually on time and they call beforehand as well. One time, they didn't show up but they gave me a no show credit on my bill :)

Thanks for the tips guys.

Turns out Mont. Co. is a real bitch when it comes to regulating quality of cable tranmissions.

Part of the reason why FIOS is finding it hard to make inroads into my city, which SUCKS.

I'm not a new Comcast subscriber, but I don't recall it taking a long time for my initial installation.
