Receiver/Speaker suggestions

What I'm looking to do is add a 2.0 or at the most 2.1 setup to a TV in a bedroom. I don't mind actually getting a 2.0 or 2.1 receiver either. I don't plan to add surround sound to this room at all. Just looking for a nice sounding set for less than $400 if possible.

I would really like to have floor standing speakers, but will go with book shelf if needed in the price range.

A couple inexpensive floorstanding options are

Polk
R-Series from fry's / outpost
http://shop4.frys.com/product/4005092 (R50s in Cherry are $60 each = $120/pair)
RTi-Series from fry's / outpost
http://shop4.frys.com/product/3753276 (RTi8 in Cherry are $150 each = $300/pair)

Infinity
Primus
http://www.electronics-expo.co...inity/PRIMUS362/1.html (362 in Black are $128 each = $256/pair)

For a cheap sub (you might be able to fit one in if going with the R50s or something similar price-wise)
Dayton Brand at PartsExpress has some affordable subs
http://www.partsexpress.com/we...%20&ObjectGroup_ID=620

For a receiver, you could get something cheap from sherwood, onkyo, etc.
Perhaps looking on craigslist you could find a used one for not much.
ShopOnkyo has some inexpensive refurb ones
http://shoponkyo.com/products.cfm?group_id=1 ($120 for a 304)

Of course, lots more suggestions in the sticky thread 😉

check out the audiovideosource.com if you want to match other pieces for Infinity P362

BTW Jello, RTi8 is 300$ each according to the site

Those Polk R50s look very nice for the price. Are these refurbs? Just wondering since other sites I've looked at have them for $100ish each.

They're new afaik.

Fry's / Outpost has been having sales (on and off) for Polk R-series for several years now.
