Receiver Making Loud Thump

I have a Kenwood VR-3090, and anytime I push a button on the DVD player, like menu, play, pause, seek, etc., a very loud thump comes from the powered sub. It doesn't do this with any other device connected. The thump is so bad that it's causing my sub to bottom out. It happens when the sub is connected to the Subwoofer out, and when I connect the sub to the preouts for the front and right channels. I've tried both. Does anyone have a clue what can cause this or what I can do? DVD player is connected through coaxial connection.

By the title.. I thought this was going to be about Terrel Owens and his tantrums !

I get the same thump when i hit the Tone Bypass button. I never touch that button when the volume is turned up high anymore.
