I and a few of my friends decided that we were gonna goto the burbank frys for the AMD XPP .... we all met up @5am at a friends apt. and I had to park on the sidewalk.

We come back.. I get in my car and notice a green envelope stuck underneath the windshield wiper... at first i thought it was an advertisement.... but in large letters it had "PARKING TICKET" printed on it.... well its 24 bucks.. ya its not much but for me money is money..

i noticed that theres a telephone # printed on the ticket.. do i have a chance of contesting this ticket?

<<and I had to park on the sidewalk.>>

The physical evidence is pretty damning. I'd say just pay it and go on with your life. ;)

Your only shot is to see if you can convince the judge they built the sidewalk under your car after you parked there. Otherwise...

Why the fvck did you park on the sidewalk? Surely you could have parked further away & walked?

Pay the $24 & be thankful you didn't get towed.

So there were Cinderella clones on their hands & knees scrubbing every parking place for a 10 block radius?

SURELY you could have parked elsewhere.

speaking of tickets, i recently heard this

if you get a speeding ticket/etc pay an extra $10 or so
i.e for a $120 ticket send the court $130
they send you back a check for the $10 they owe you
don't cash the check, which leaves the case open
open case means you don't get points on your drivers liscence, which really helps keep insurance rates down esp if you have no-fault insurance like in michigan

never tried it, so i can't say if it works or not
any lawyers? what do you think?

Pay your stupid ticket. There is no excuse for parking on a sidewalk regardless of street cleaning or no place to park or whatever.

Just don;t pay it, if it is a city fine. At least here in Provo Utah, that's what's done. I've recieved so many tickets, and never paid one! Never had any problems, even when I looked into it. My Dad used the same philosophy in Honolulu Hawai`i, and it didn;t work out too good. He had about 1500 parking tickets, and threatened to take evey single one of them to court. The judge freaked out, just imagine the time in court tied up to stupid parking tickets, andgave him a huge deal on the tickets, like 20 cents on the dollar!

= I don't take responsibility for my actions.

<< He had about 1500 parking tickets >>
= Rules are for other people, not for me.

Well, I can see why you turned out the way you did!

Um, usually they can put a warrant out for your arrest for not paying tickets and failing to appear. They can also suspend your license. At least that's my understanding of the FL laws. Perhaps they don't apply for non-moving violations, but, I suspect the govn still has the edge.

Should parked farther away if there were no open spots. Otherwise you took the risk and got hit with a fine. Now pay up. At least you didn't park in a handicap spot.

I don't get what makes you think you should contest this, I mean sometimes you can get lucky with the appeal, but what about the situation makes you think "hey, I don't deserve this ticket!"?

Utah laws on the subject are really weak, Hawai`i laws are much more strict, and I see Hawai`i laws are too...I would look into the laws of your state/county before being irresponsible like me

This is a parking ticket, not a moving violation. Points will not be added.

NO. How could it work? You plead guilty by paying. Some clerk catches your mistake, they cut a check, put in the mail, and mark the case closed. Do you really think they wait for a bank statement to file the case?
