Sup ya'll,

Just received my vga cooler and will attempt to install it once i get home. my questionm is, should i use AS5 or the goo that came w/ the vga card. Are tehre any potentiakl dangers associated with using AS5 on a video card? Thanks in advance and ill post my resulvts after i install and bench.

as5 is electrically conductive, if your really good at applying it you shouldn't have any problems, and it will cool better than the silicon dioxide.

Cool, thanks for your response homie. Ill try it tonight 🙂

Yup use as5. I used as5 on my vga silencer, intially I had problems that I found out was a bad psu, after changing the psu it's running real nice...🙂

I'd be a bit wary of using AS5 w/ the VGA silencer unless your very good at applying the paste you may get it on some places other than the GPU die and if thats the case you could be in big trouble, the diff. between AS5 and the white paste that comes w/ the VGA silencer is prolly only a couple degress C, personaly I went w/ the white goop as at least for me things can get a bit messy when applying thermal paste. and I felt much safer using something non conductive on my $200 vid card 🙂 Just my 2 cents...

If you're worried about AS 5 just use AS ceramique. The difference is negligible at best if properly applied. The compound that comes bundled with coolers is usually worthless and turns to dust much quicker than a quality substance.

Ditto, the goo that's shipped with products always sucks, its just there so people dont bitch about no having a thermal interface material. My friend could overclock only to about 415 with the goo from arctic cooling. When I slapped on some AS5 for him, he could get up to 440. It makes a difference. And it's not difficult to spread it out on the chip, be careful and pay attention, dont slop it all over the place like a 3 year old.

Hi all.,

finally installed the vga cooler and successfully unlocked the pipes to a full 8 now 🙂 the my 3dmark differneces are:

3882 w/ out oc
5647 w/ oc

SUCCESS! Thanks to all for your input and i guess my next question would be, where do i go from here? Should i up my clocks speeds or what? Anywasys, thanks again to everyone, peace.
