as5 is electrically conductive, if your really good at applying it you shouldn't have any problems, and it will cool better than the silicon dioxide.

I'd be a bit wary of using AS5 w/ the VGA silencer unless your very good at applying the paste you may get it on some places other than the GPU die and if thats the case you could be in big trouble, the diff. between AS5 and the white paste that comes w/ the VGA silencer is prolly only a couple degress C, personaly I went w/ the white goop as at least for me things can get a bit messy when applying thermal paste. and I felt much safer using something non conductive on my $200 vid card :) Just my 2 cents...

If you're worried about AS 5 just use AS ceramique. The difference is negligible at best if properly applied. The compound that comes bundled with coolers is usually worthless and turns to dust much quicker than a quality substance.

Ditto, the goo that's shipped with products always sucks, its just there so people dont bitch about no having a thermal interface material. My friend could overclock only to about 415 with the goo from arctic cooling. When I slapped on some AS5 for him, he could get up to 440. It makes a difference. And it's not difficult to spread it out on the chip, be careful and pay attention, dont slop it all over the place like a 3 year old.
