So I received an offer and I have a choice of several locations. The 2 I know nothing about are in southeast PA (a little ways west of Phily) and the very northern tip of WV. What does anybody know about these places?

Never been to the WV location. Coatesville, PA is your basic eastern/central PA town. It's somewhat large for the area, and not horribly far from Philly. It's basically between Philly and Lancaster. It'll just be a regular old suburban town.

Weirton
The median income for a household in the city was $35,212, and the median income for a family was $42,466. Males had a median income of $37,129 versus $19,745 for females. The per capita income for the city was $18,853. About 8.0% of families and 10.3% of the population were below the poverty line, including 14.0% of those under age 18 and 7.9% of those age 65 or over.

bonus:
In 2001, West Virginia legalized video gambling. This has brought new business to Weirton in the form of "cafes" that allow patrons to gamble. Many patrons come from the surrounding areas (Pennsylvania and Ohio) to take part in the gambling.

Coatesville
The median income for a household in the city was $29,912, and the median income for a family was $36,375. Males had a median income of $31,782 versus $24,774 for females. The per capita income for the city was $14,079. About 18.3% of families and 22.1% of the population were below the poverty line, including 28.9% of those under age 18 and 15.9% of those age 65 or over.
bonus:
A series of arsons took place in the city from 2008 to 2009. During the year of 2008-2009, the city of Coatesville suffered from 26 arson fires. In the fires there was only one death; Irene Kempest, an 83 year old woman and a survivor of a World War II German work camp, was killed when her Strode Ave. home was set on fire on December 7, 2008. The fires also caused an estimated $3.5 million in property damage, and left dozens of Coatesville residents homeless.

OP, never underestimate the happiness one can get from living in the country. The other day I was checking WV real estate and found a few properties with a very nice home and a lot of land for less than $200K.

Which one is closer to an airport? Make it easier for you to get out of there. :D

Weirton certainly sounds nicer from the above stuff, but dear god I would not want to live in WV.

I know that they'll never pay me enough to go to any of the places you've mentioned.

LOL. I grew up about an hour and 15 from Coats PA and I am currently living in Weirton WV doing my 3rd year Clerkship at the Weirton Hospital.

Weirton is like 30-40 minutes West of Pittsburgh. Its not a horrible place. Kinda economically stagnating since the steel industry died.

If you have any specfic questions I can prob answer them for you...

They are actually shooting Super 8 in Weirton this month so the town is all crazy right now. Oh and the gambling is kinda bs. Every other business is a pseudo-bar with 5 slot machines and shitty pizza. It is a gray area in the state gambling laws.

My fav thing about WV ... the speed limits make sense.

Don't let everyone scare you... Weirton is in the Northern Panhandle of Wv nestled right between PA and Ohio... it barely counts.
