Received a bottle of Meukow X.O. Cognac as a gift...

I recently got a bottle of this as a gift. I know X.O. is premium grade cognac (aged at least 20-25 years) and know it is on the expensive side, so I want to enjoy it a bit more.

Should I drink this straight up, or mix it with other things? Also, I haven't consumed brandy/cognac in a while, does it go bad after opening it?
 
drink it straight up, in a snifter, room temperature.

hold the snifter bowl in the palm of ur hand and let ur hand warm up the stuff.

then get urself a nice cigar and schmooze about ur portfolio
 
I think good cognac is supposed to be slowly heated before drinking.
And DONT mix it. If it is fine stuff you want it as is.

this reminds me of a thread about marinating steaks the other day. I believe this example was mentioned at least once.

yeah it's technically a brandy, but it's an oh so freaking GOOD brandy.

Exactly right! Also, don't forget to blow smoke in the face of the biggest nearby arrogant blowhard and one-up whatever he brags about. So, if he has a Viper, say you have a Porsche.. It's easy.

Cognac is awesome though.. Just make sure you get a big phat-ass sifter.. Good ones are fvcking huge (and you only fill about 1/2" to 3/4" high) and they're heavy and made out of crystal.

Cigar is a mandatory.. preferably a light mild cigar so as not to detract from the Cognac..

EDIT: As for Cognac sifters, I like these. They're casual enough to serve as your whiskey glass, plain enough for wine, and large enough for Cognac.. Also, they're modern. A heavy crystal sifter won't do you much good if you don't drink Cognac often.

It's like brandy, well... in a way, it sorta is brandy. Just a better version of brandy!

at ruth chris steak house, you can get a shot of napolean cognac for over $100? correct me if i'm wrong.

also a good cognac can be used as a form of investment.
