Receive text messages if phone is off for 2 weeks?

I'll be leaving the country in a few days and will not be using my SIM card in my iPhone 5s. It's unavoidable since my employer pays my bill.

Two questions:

Will iMessage work when a new SIM card is inserted? (I am guessing no since the number is different.) I do have an unlocked 5s.

When I put in my original ATT SIM card after the two week break - will I receive any text message I missed?

I'll be gone for a period of 2 weeks starting next week.

imessages use your apple ID to send and receive the messages so if you apple id is linked to your phone, its okay.

The people I need to communicate with are all using iMessage. Everyone else can use my GV number.

My concern is when I change the SIM card, it will disrupt something, but I am reading that it will probably be a non-issue.

Thanks.

Yes. You will be able to receive iMessages at both your old ATT number, your new local number, and your apple ID email (if you have it set up as a receiving address).

Yes. You will get all your texts as soon as your phone catches ATT signal again.

SMS messages have a timeout, and it is operator specific. not sure what ATT's timeout is. you may not receive all messages when you return, perhaps only the most recent ones.
