Reccommend a good, cheap notebook network card!

If you can find one, the Orinoco Silver and Gold cards are hard to beat. I once saw some for 30$, for the 802.11b version.
Also, almost all 802.11g cards are backwards-compatible, so you should'nt have a problem with a newer card.

What andrewbabcock meant to say is,

the 802.11g standard is backwards-compatible with 802.11b. Any 802.11g card will work with an 802.11b router, although it will be limited to 802.11b speeds when doing so.

[EDIT: The 802.11a standard uses a different frequency, and is not backwards compatible. It's also much less popular than b/g.

Yes i appologize. They are the same frequency so a G card and pick up B/G signals but not the other way around. Also, my network card, for instance has A/B/G which is awesome cause wherever i go, i am covered.

If you want ultra cheap wireless B cardbus to work with your Linksys BEFW11S4 (I had one before) is Airlink+ I bought one for 10 buck last year. It works great with my old BEFW11S4 (I upgraded to Linksys wrt54g with Airlink+ wireless G cardbus).
