Could anyone reccomend a socket 939 cooler for an A64 3000+? Mild overclocking planned, if any. Nothing too fancy but a quiet ride is worth considering.

I notice that Thermaltake's website has a number of socket 754 coolers listed. I couldn't find any socket 939-specific information on there. I assume then a 754 cooler would be fine on 939 slots? Thanks!

yes, the mounting system found in both are identical. all k8 hsf should work with 754 and 939

Like yourself I do a bit of overclocking on an S939 3000+. I went with this fan by Zalman. It comes with a speed controller, so when you're not overclocking you can turn its rpms down and reduce the noise level. So far I've been very pleased with it.

Looks good, thanks. Did you have to buy some OEM thermal paste, like Arctic Silver, or was what came with the fan good enough for you?

Check out the Thermalright XP-90 cooler... You'll need to pick up a 90/92mm fan to go with it, but it is rated to work with "socket 478/754/939/940" processors... Plus, it will work with a TON of motherboards (unlike the limited list of the XP-120, which I do own).

Don't get it from newegg, since they are charging way too much for the XP-90 ($58.99 plus $6 ground shipping)... FrozenCPU has it for $41.99. Of course, you'll need to get a fan with it, but you have a wide range to chose from starting from $9 on up.

i went with the zalman (see sig) but the xp-90 sounds pretty cool. i don't even use the fan controller on the zalman, it didn't seem to get any quieter when i used it.

I went with the Thermalright XP-90 cooler and the panaflow fan. FrozenCPU seems to have the best price on it as well.
