I want to get an LCD and assuming my main requirement is 1600x1200 resolution, what would be the top monitors in that category for price/performence?

Sorry if thats in the buyer's guide but I also want to ask a question I didnt see adressed there:

1 Are Dell's still high quality monitors with the xx07 series? A year ago everyone had/wanted a dell.

2 Why are there never new stories about LCD reviews here? Has the technology stagnated recently? Prices seem nearly the same now as one year ago. Thanks.

whats ur budget?
I'll give u 2 anyway.
1.Samsung Syncmaster 204-B 5ms-$350
2.Samsung Syncmaster 204-T -$450(don't really know the difference)
If u want a 24 inch widescreen.
The best way to go would be a dell 2407 WFP.

I guess budget max is $400. Thanks for the ideas. About the 20' WS they are cheaper but do any of them have 1200 vertical resolution (dell is 1050 I think). The 1200 vertical is extremely important for online poker.

only widescreens with 1200 vertical is 24 inch ones. And those are pricey.Arguably the best is dell ultrasharp 2407 WFP at $750.
The samsung 204-B seems to be a good deal with 1600x1200.
Since u want 1200 vertical u aren't left with too many options.24 inch or 20 inch?
Dell or Samsung?

The 204-B is exactly the kind of thing I was looking for thanks. The 5ms response sounds good for gaming. I'm not sure either what the difference with the T is but something is different with the panel type, these things are complicated.

responce time is not to be trusted. try to find a review of the monitor you want. reponce can mean alot of things and is normally just marketing BS. sometimes 16 ms monitors perform better than 8 ms ones and and sometimes worse than even 25 ms ones.

here's a good link. READ it.
