Bose = crap. You'd be tarred and feathered on any audio forum for even considering them.

I recommend anything Sennheiser.

I have to agree with sleepmachine. The bose noise cancelling headsets have been wonderful. THis has been my third pair. I've used two other brands and bose beats them hands down.

Once again, this proves BOSE has great marketing...until you actually hear their products.

sorry, forgot to add, they have to be small enough to travel, which i saw the bose, and they tilt so you can pack it, and becomes very light.

I have the Sony MDR-V6 headphones and love them.

I recommended them to two guys I work with who also love them. One guy had the Bose headphones and switched to the MDR-V6 after his broke. He has no complaints.

Check out etronics.com for a good price on the MDR-V6

Sennheiser have a pair of folding headphones, large diameter rest on the ear type, cant remember the model number alas atm, but visit their website and u should see them, they sound fantastic, not all that expensive either if your looking at mid-range price.........i got the sennheisers with the neckband style, cheaper model, still very good sounding though.....
If not, try Grado.......

Ah the uneducated comming in here spewing more company loyalty shít again. Bose Triports are very nice headphones and compete well, despite their micro speakers being overpriced crap.
Sennheiser do have a few good models, as does Bose. Sennheiser also have many bad models, as does bose.
Take your fanboyism elsewhere.
Ask on www.head-fi.com if you want a serious response.

I own the triports that i got last xmas. They sound pretty decent but i would recommend the sennheisers for sure. My bose headphones are still working good but the plastic pieces on top broke pretty quick, they are not durable at all. All i use these for is with my computer and i so wish i had the sennheisers (really any $140+ model.).
Stay away from the grados if you like comfort with your headphones, they sound good but they hurt my ears like hell.

whats your budget? you're going to need additional equipment if you're going to be getting semi-decent headphones.

sounds like you're using them for travelling, hence the noise cancellation. in that case if your budget allowd, the shure e5c is very good as is the new e3c. etymotic er4s/p is pretty good to, i used to own one about a year ago. they will isolate far better than any noise cancelling headphones.

the general consensus on head-fi.org is very hostile to the triports. so i dont know. youd probably get scorched on the forums if you compared senn to bose.

Bose tend to be very expensive, and you could probably get comparable performance at a lower price. Lots of great choices out there. Sennheiser have the hd-25s which seem to be good, also look into the e3cs. You might want to go to a shop and try some headphones as opinions vary from person to person.

I have some Sony NC earbuds (~US$150.00) that work very well (NC) and sound great. They come with airline adapters for single / dual plugs.

I use 'em in the lab / server room and traveling in the car .... they're very quiet.

Good Luck
