Reccomendations for Good Budget Power Supply

Hi I am looking to make a new build with i2500k and GA-z68MA-UD2-B3. with 8gb of ram. Will use a low power GPU. Either onboard fgx or something like GT240. Will have about 2x 3.5 HDD and one SSD. Might or might not have optical drive.

Since the processor is unlocked, I was thinking of overclocking it to perhaps 4.00k.

Using the power supply calculator, it is recommended, I have something around 400W (un-overclocked). I guess its better to go a little extra and have a PSU around 460 or 500W. I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations on what might be a good budget power supply to put in here. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks for the advice. Seems like the Seasonic and Antec are the same power supplies...so Slugbait seems like you are right. It makes more sense to go with the Antec with the 10% off coupon.

My only issue is that both of them seem to have a lot of issues with the fans. Seems like a consistent complaint from 30% of the reviews or so.

I found this on amazon. Had decent reviews, but is a no name cheapskake power supply. Anyone have rec'd if its worth a shot.

Only if that's a shot from a high caliber weapon or sledgehammer.

haha got it. Got the Antec powersupply from the egg. Looking to pair it up with this case. Might not be the best, but for the price after MIR, its not bad. Plus has USB 3.0 and swappable drive.

Case: Thermalake A60 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...&SID=u00000687

Just placed my order. If there is something much better in a similar price range please let me know. Thanks.

I wouldn't put a Diablotek PSU in a computer I was building for my ex-wife...they're that bad.

(OK, I don't have an ex-wife...but you get my point) 😛

There are a few GOOD PSU companies out there. VERY FEW actually build their own, but instead, have them made and rebranded.
SeaSonic is consistently rated as one of the top power supply manufacturers...which is why most of the better power supplies are all built on a SeaSonic model.

Most of the power supply selling companies use a variety of OEM companies to build their power supplies. It's always worth doing some research for a component as important as the power supply. Not many other components are as important...and overlooked as the PSU. A bad one can have a "meltdown" and take out several of your other components with it.

Here's a couple of websites that tell who actually made the power supplies:

Alrite I ended up getting the Seasonic Branded Antec power supply 520W. I had a question about can. I plan on building a i2500k processor with Gigabyte 5770 graphics board. Will the power supply handle both overclocking of the i2500k. Please let me know. Thanks.

Yes, it should be able to do that without any problem.
