Hi there,

I am in the process of doing some research into a P4 motherboard. I am
posting this in the hopes that some of you can offer your
adice/opinions/links to help me out :)

Ok, here is what I *would* like the board to have:

-- *prefer* i845D chipset (for stability -- open to suggestion here)
-- *at least* THREE DDR DIMM slots
-- RAID
-- Socket 478
-- well-known manufacturuer :)

Really pretty general requirements at this point. I am hoping that you
folks can help me refine this list so I can get a better idea of what it out
there currently.

Thanks for your time,

- Stan

I like the sis 645 chipset on my epox 4sda+. I can post at 133 fsb (1.6a at 2.13 gigs) without increasing voltage, and run my pc2100 at pc2700 speed (166-171 fsb, at +.1 or +.2 volts) with the 4:5 ratio. For $99, you get raid, ata 133, 3 ddram slots, onboard diagnostics, and both dip switch and bios voltage adjustments for the cpu (up to about 1.85), ddram, and agp. Others will recommend the asus p4b266 or p4s333, but this board runs very well. Only complaint is the onboard sound makes popping sounds when windows first loads.

<<What chipset is on the ASUS P4B533-E ??>>

What i know it will support northwood-b which is has 533 FSB
I'm not sure probably just improvement from 845, it might called 845-e
since the one on the market now is 845d
