Reccomendations for a DVD Drive

i'm currently using a pioneer 105s (16x slot load) which i think is pretty much as good as you can get. however the noise problems related to this drive are just insane, and i'm sure many others out there feel the same way. i'm considering getting a new dvd drive, the question is are there any reccomendations of a drive better then this one? it's about as fast as you can get, and slot load.

i'd trade down for a slower drive, but it'd have to be perferably slot load as well, that's a BIG must have. the speed doesn't matter as much as that i think, i don't see a difference between a 12x dvd read and 16x dvd read. anything faster, better ?

I do not think that the Pioneer's are noisy, the only thing that mine is noisy at is CD Data, anything else and it is very quiet, I personally, wouldn't recommend anything else apart from Pioneer at the moment.

If you REALLY want to change, I guess Toshiba

are you using the 105s ?

everyone i've talked to has bitched about the noise factor, otherwise it's a perfect dvd drive, most feel the same way and some have even already changed to a different drive just because of it.

maybe you have a later model in which they improved it ?

but a newer model or later, i got mine about the second they came out. perhaps pioneer's addressed the problems and the newer shipping ones are more silent ?
