blind guardian .... This is great. It's power metal in it's purest form. Great music. I like it even better when members of BG teamed up with members of Iced Earth and recorded Demons and Wizards.

dream theater ... Excelent musicians, lots of talent here.

pagan's mind .... don't really know

symphony x ... Another great prog band. I find them to be more interesting then dream theater, but that's just my opinion.

stratovarius ... I enjoy their music, but I don't find it to be all that spectacular these days.

sonata arctica ... These guys are pretty cool. I nice mix of subgenres here. Somewhat power metal somewhat progressive metal ... overall a nice sound

yeah, stratovarius' newer stuff isn't all that great. if you like the other stuff i mentioned you would most likely like pagan's mind too. i have soo many power metal and prog bands that i like its just too numerous to mention. and yeah, i have to agree with the Demons & Wizards stuff, VERY cool.
The Ayreon stuff is just awesome. mixes tons of different musical styles together and just rocks. Also check out Avantasia if you like rock opera type stuff. They have 2 cds.

kmfdm kinda got a little crappy there near the end and before they came back. that adios cd was pure crap. pretty much everything up to that and after that is great though. Hau Ruck, their newest one, has some pretty awesome songs on it too.
