So my friend just found out he's getting a FREE Pavilion 523n desktop, because his brother got a laptop for his graduation. He has a PCI geforce 4 mx 440 now, and this new comp has an open AGP 4X slot. He's going to need a new graphics card to game. He plays Unreal 2K4, Morrowind, Neverwinter Nights, and usually checks out hot new releases after I tell him how cool they are :) Bottom line, he is NOT hardcore gamer, and is used to low settings for everything, and 800 x 600 resolution. I asked him how much he'd be willing to spend on a card, and he told me $100 dollars, the only catch is he can only get the card off of newegg or at a store, his dad is PARANOID about using his credit card on sites he doesn't know. Any ideas would be great :)

I recommend a fast video card. :p

Actually, your friend cant go wrong with ANY of the R420/NV40 generation of cards. Even the lowest powered 6800 defeats a 5950. Same goes for the X800pro vs. 9800XT

I gotta start reading the whole thread. 100.00 Would mean a 9600pro/XT area.

Given what your pal is used to, he will be stoked with a $100 9600's performance :)

haha alright, i'll tell him to get a 9600, you're prolly right DAPUNISHER, he's completely oblivious.

EDIT: what about the 5700LE models? are they any good for the price/performance ratio?
