Please help me choose an LCD to replace my space heater crt.

My budget is $250, I want DVI, at least 1280x1024 and 12ms or quicker response time. A highe contrast ratio would be nice (500:1) as would a high brightness.

I was looking at this display, but I don't know anything about the quality of the panels Acer uses.

Thanks, and just about any reccomendation si welcome, as long as it's not obviously out of my budget (IE: no Dell FP2405Ws).

Get the dell. The 1704, which is 17", 1280x1024, DVI, and 12ms, is only 200 w/free shipping.

LG L1780U Black 17" 12ms LCD Monitor

i would get this very nice monitor but ur gonna have to pay more than 289 but u will get money back. ur crt would still own it in gaming ;) but by checking ur rigs u have dial-up so u probably dont do alot of gaming.

The LG looks way nicer, and weighs about 6 pounds lighter. The Dell only comes with 90 day warranty where as the LG comes with 3 year quickswap warranty. I'd rather purchase a product from LG over Dell even though it'd cost more. Dell has max 60hz over LG's 75hz.

Bad experience with Dells, and the fact that they only sell Intel. Freakin bas****s. AMD rules!

Don't mind my bias.
