So I looks like i might have to replace my video card as my current one could be dead and I was wondering what would you guys reccomend in the way of pciE. I do some gamming but not alot. I mostly play EAsport games and some first person shooters. No game in particualr tho. I do alot of video editing and watching HD movies on my computer tho.

I need to get it today so something that I could pick up at Best Buy would be ideal. I have 1GB of RAM and a AMD X2 3800+

I've been reading posts about all the different cards here and it seems quite confusing on which one I should pick up. I tought maybe i could get a better anwer by making a new post.

Thanks!

thanks for the replies, but I need to get the card at Best Buy and not online. I need to make use of my computer now and I can't wait until wednesday for a new video card to come in

It just sucks because video cards are like $70 more when you buy at best buy.

They have a very lenient return policy.

only on hardware; on software and other stuff they're stringent about that restocking fee.

try getting an X1600Pro. I believe those are around $200 at Best Buy. Also, I believe Best Buy DOES carry 7600GTs; not sure on their price, though.

For 245$ shipped (fedex) you could have had the MSI X1800XT this week from Newegg using a 50$ off promo code and the 30$ rebate.

The 200$ price limit you set is apparently falling in the middle of your best options.

160$ can net you a 7600GT, but it is a very slow pony compared to the X1800XT.

I have the X1800XT now and had a Nvidia 5500 before that. Quite a jump. 15 times more powerful!

You really need to ask how much wow--factor are you looking for in terms of enjoying viewing you games and movies. For 245$ is the extra 45$ worth paying to get double the speed of the 7600GT and gorgeous quality graphics?

I've bought and returned many video cards from best buy w/o any problems, the clerk takes the video card out, inspects it like she knows what shes looking at, and gives you a credited receipt back. Returned and on my way in 5minutes....
