For silent people like me... hehehehe...
XP-90 with nexus 92mm real silent, 19 dba, 27 cfm :D
I care a lot about dba, since 3 dba = twice as loud.

My idle is 48 C, load is 56 C-60C (no clue...), with an o/ced 3200+ to 2.71 ghz. (271X10)

Course its with a k8n neo2, so we all know temperatures are LOWER than stated.

Get a thermaltake big typhoon, CFM to CFM the big typhoon does better than the xp90 and it comes with a really quiet fan too.

10dB is twice as loud. 3 dB is the amplification that two same-SPL sounds would give you.

30dB is twice as loud as 20dB which in turn is twice as loud as 10dB. Two 20dB sound sources will give you a 23dB SPL total.

EDIT: Bah, I mispelled loud twice... too used to writing load.

How about XP-90C? Is it alot better? How much better is it?

Will the weight be too much for my motherboard to take? (MSI K8N Neo4-F)

It's probably quite a bit better if your CPU makes a lot of heat (like a pentium D) but for a CPU with a decent heat production the xp-90 is more than enough at like half the weight.

There was a review I saw awhile back where the XP-90C ran about 1C cooler than the XP-90. Not a huge difference, but I bought the XP-90C anyway. It's purty, and I found it for $45 which is what most people are selling the aluminum models for.

Actually a 3dB increase is nearly double in loudness. But adding two 20dB noises will add a dB or less.

Edit: Scratch that technically it isn't loud but having something to do with the power of the niose. Still double the dB does not equal twice as load but can actually mean much more then that.

i wouldnt suggest getting the xp-90c cause it weighs more and only better than the regular xp-90 by 1c. that doesnt give it a good enough reason to purchase it other than looks. i have a Tt silent cat 90mm fan on mine and it idles at 36c under load is 45c max and thats at 2.7ghz. i also have the same mobo you have or going to get. love the board :)

i dont remember where i read it. i did a google search and most of the sites that come up show about 5-7 degree difference depending on how fast the fan is. but to me its just really up to your set up, what you want to achieve and case. i recommend getting a case with at least a 120mm rear fan. it made a HUGE difference in my cpu temps.

my old case had a 60mm rear fan which made my idle temps around 47-50c which was too hot for anyone! even if it was at stock speeds! so i decided to get a new case and chose antec's TX640B and with the rear 120mm fan set on low, it alone dropped my temps to 34c idle.

XP-90C isn't much better than XP-90 (I know because I've used both on the same machine). Maybe about 2-3C. But considering an XP-90 goes for ~$30 from many online retailers, paying an extra $15-$20 for an XP-90C/Big Typhoon isn't really worth it since you can get a better fan for that price . . .

SI-120 would be my choice, though I wouldn't trade my XP-90C for it . . . ;)
