Reccomend me a good DVD Writer

Since DVD writers seem to be pretty cheap right now I'm looking to buy one. What are your suggestions? Looking for something preferably dual-layer, with a decent write speed, and any bezel color. Any suggestions?

The NEC drives are great. I went with the BenQ 1640 due to the supposedly better writing quality, but I'd say you couldn't go wrong with either one.

benQ and NEC have some nice drives for the price.

edit: I have the benQ DW1640 just like Imyourzero

Got a NEC3540 and it's awesome. I read that the 3540 is a better overall drive than the 3550 in terms of reading and writing quality (compatibility). The Benq supposedly burns better, but it's harder to find.

If you can find a Plextor PX-740A that would be a good one. Basically a Benq 1640 with Plextor tweaking and software bundle.

NEC 3540A is a nice choice (though a bit old now).

Had some serious compatibilty issues with Pioneer 111D (Verbatim 16x +R MCC004) so dropped it. Had quality problems with NEC 4571, but it never actually failed to write a DVD (to said material).

Aside from these personal experiences, I suggest you take a look at review sites like www.cdfreaks.com. Try to find problems on forums with the one you want to buy, that always works.

Also decide which material you want to use. It's never a good idea to buy like ten different materials then try your luck with them. Decide the material + writer.
