Alright - now I know a large number of you are reccomending everyone and their brother to go LCD. However, I don't think it is in my best interest to do so. With a $300 budget and a dying 21'' Sony Trinitron E540 it's time for a replacement (finally). So, I ask you all - What can $300 buy me in the CRT market now?

I'm looking for 21 and up. If I could net a 23 or 24'' even that would be great. And - are there any widescreen choices for the CRT market?

-Reason why I'm not going LCD is because I'm sensitive enough to notice the difference between 100hz and 85hz. I played close to 5 years of counter-strike near professional level so I'm prone to notice any lag or delay in a display.

See if you can get an FW900 or 2070SB on ebay or http://www.accurateit.com . All the good CRTs are only available used these days. The FW900 is generally closer to $400 on ebay after the shipping costs are added on (but may be under $300 if you can find a local seller), while the 2070SB can be a bit harder to find but usually goes for around $300 shipped. Both monitors also have some rebadged versions that may be cheaper or more readily available.

Yeah - the FW900 looks amazing but I need to find a local pickup for $300 and right now that's not going to happen with me being in Connecticut and the Ebay sellers being in Michigan.

I just can't deal with input lag. I notice refresh rate differences and the difference between 20 ping and 60 ping in a heartbeat. An added 65ms of an LCD screen would drive me nuts.
