Reccomend a laptop for me

I'm looking for a 13.3" or 14" notebook with the following critical characteristics:

- thin and light
- good battery life
- USB 3.0
- decent dedicated video for light gaming at native resolution
- under $1,000 if possible

Since I won't be doing a lot of serious computing on this, I don't think I need an i5, although I'd prefer it, all else equal.

My initial search led me to the ASUS U36SD-DH51 and the Acer Aspire TimelineX AS3830TG-6424. The Acer's a bit thicker than I'd like, but the 540m graphics are nice. I've had great experiences with Asus in the past, so I'm more inclined to go that way. Are there other options anyone would suggest I look at?

Thanks,
Aaron

I personally own an MSI x460dx - 006 model with 6 gb of RAM, 2 USB 3.0 and 1 USB 2.0 ports. Same specs as acer. One gripe is the battery life. 8 hours on the MSI is overestimation. I get more like 5 to 6 hours.

Acer Aspire TimelineX AS4830TG-6450 model can reach 8 easily according to reviews. And it is only 730 bucks. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834215183

I surely hope that this model does not have throttling issues that many Acer notebook owners have experienced..

Thanks, this is very much what I'm looking for. I've had some reliability issues with Acer in the past (one great notebook, one lemon) so I'd rather go with the MSI.

Can you recommend a place to buy it from? A quick search only led me to a couple online retailers - TheNerds and Beach Audio - both have it for about $850 with shipping.

Thanks,
Aaron

Where do you live? Newegg has the laptop with a rebate - 820 dollars
And I got the computer off xoticpc.com website as at the time of order ,September 19th, they had the best offer. Great company with a clean image on their shoulders.
