Machine is my brothers AthlonXP 2500, Windows 2000, 512mb RAM.

We bought an AGP Radeon 9600SE 128mb... and have had nothing but lockups and problems. Judging by my Google searches, I'm not alone in experiencing lockups with this card. Its' pretty much just used for games and schoolwork, gimme something with good 3D.

Looking for between $100 to $150, AND if you have one you'd like to sell me, by all means PM ME OR EMAIL ME AT POSTMASTER@UGLYSLUG.COM

Thanks for the suggestions!

9600 pro is the best for about $140. But, since you're having problems with lockups with your current ati card, you might also have them with this card.

I second the 5900nu. I know its like $50 than you want to spend, but come resale, or when its time to upgrade, this card will get you much more than $50.

I third. Make sure clock speeds are 400 for core and 800 for memory.

maybe just buy a ti 4200 for around 75 and upgrade later once the new chipsets come out and the current cards drop in price or you save up more money.

Or will it shame us into revealing the secret $99 gf6 card that's four times as fast at the ti4200? ;)
