One of the kids dropped the very dependable Canon Powershot A75 that we've had since 2004, so I'm looking to pick up a new mainly point and shoot camera.
I'm no photo-bug by any means, though I did take classes and can find my way around an f stop if I need to, I liked the versatility of the Power Shot and was looking at picking up the A530 which includes an ISO 800 for night, which is exciting... but I was always dissapointed in how long the A75 took between shots and the 530 is still 2.1fps from the A75 2.2...

I really don't know much about cameras, so this might be standard, anybody care to point me in the direction of a good camera in this range?

TIA

I have the sd550 and sd450, both will do the fast shooting but not at night.. with the flash on.. it takes up to 4 sec to recharge the flash for next pic.... day time works great...

Pocketable isn't necessary... I prefer something about the size of the A75 maybe just a bit smaller..

Since you like that Canon camera why not go for another Canon? There is the A620 (which is supposidly going to be last gen soon), A540, and A530.
You can pick up the A620 from rainbowtronics for $202.00 w/ free shipping. Be prepared to call them in order to move your order to shipping. They did offer me some accessories, but I didn't want any and they didn't push. It also came in 2 days once they shipped it since it shipped from NY.

It seems like rainbowtronics has the lowest prices for a good amount of cameras, but it is your call if you want to order from a well known site or this site.
I personally would probably hit up rainbowtronics again for my next camera order, but that will be in 2+ years so who knows if another vender will beat them.

BTW if you can use a virtual cc generator for ordering from shady sites. :)

Unfortunately, I'm not all that familiar with the type of camera you are looking for, but you might want to check out this site if you haven't yet, it's really useful for comparisons Linky
