It appears Gigabyte must have learned a very valuable lesson from their whole defective PSU debacle.

Wow that is a strange issue. At least they are trying to fix it, from what it sounds like.

Some Asus motherboards also suffered from this issue. I think they fixed it with a BIOS update. Gigabyte tried to fix it with a BIOS update, but it didn't work. They had to modify the hardware itself to fix the issue. Just the joys of being on the cutting edge.

Asus has not fixed it. I have a Z690 A Strix that suffers from the Whea errors and newer BIOS did not fix it. Random hard freezes every 3-6 days too. The Whea solution is to run all the PCI-E in Gen 3 mode. I shipped the board back to them today and I'll see what they do.
