European horror rocks!!! A pity they don't have much publicity like Hollywood!

Who have seen REC and REC 2 here?

Yeah.

FYI Quarantine was one of the most exact copies of a foreign movie by an american studio that I've ever seen. Scene for scene it is precisely the same movie as REC, but with american actors.
I thought the creature at the end of REC was creepier for some reason though.

I liked REC better than REC 2. I wasn't too fond of the
demonic possession
angle they took with the second one. There were some parts that were just plain cheesy because of it (especially towards the end of REC 2).

My two favorite parts were when
the cameraman and Angela were eavesdropping on the group who were examining the bitten policeman and firefighter. After a few seconds, the wounded started rising and attacked everyone - scary stuff!

I also really liked how
as Angela looked down the stairs towards the end of REC, she saw all of the infected (including Manu) looking back up at her. I'm guessing that was when she realized she and the cameraman were the only ones left.

I saw the first Rec at a movie festival before public release. One of the scariest movies I have seen for sure. Haven't bothered to see the sequel.

I never stop being pissed off by the stupidity and wastefulness of making exact copies of existing movies instead of using those resources to make a movie that is potentially worth seeing.

Just don't watch it. No reason to get pissed over it.

I saw Quarantine first and quite liked it. [REC] was even better. I thought the sequel was fine for what it was, whereas the sequel to Quarantine was horrible.

Where is the best place to find these movies? I'm always intrigued by movies that are supposedly scary but don't want to buy the movie to find out. Don't see it on netflix or at a nearby redbox. This is an example of how I miss local vid stores!

Both REC movies are on Netflix (albeit not streaming).

I've seen Quarantine and enjoyed it, but not REC or REC2.

It should have been good, and I wanted to like it, but in the end I found REC to be extremely annoying. For me it was neither scary nor particularly interesting as the story was far from unique. I understand the whole horror movie style of stupid people doing stupid things, but the reporter (either on her own or under guidance of the director) went beyond stupid and hit annoying pretty fast. Her constant screaming when there was no need, heavy breathing when she hadn't moved in ages, and overall panic level that she could turn on and off at the flick of a switch was so unbelievable it prevented me from being immersed in the movie and had me wanting to strangle her. I was praying to God (and I'm an atheist) that she would die a horrible and painful death as she ruined the entire film for me with her shrill voice shouting over every scene from on and off camera.

If I could somehow manage to block out every annoying sound that came out of her mouth, I'd probably say the the movie managed to be entertaining and well made for being such low budget flick, and would have certainly recommended it.
