Rebuilding RAID

Hi All,

I did a quick search on this topic but couldn't find any previous discussion.

My home server currently have a 200GB RAID 1 array with 1 dead drive. It seemed that 200GB drives are no longer made and I would need to use a 250GB drive.

Question is, am I able to rebuild the RAID 1 with a 250GB drive, I know I will only get 200GB capacity in the RAID and be speed limited by the older / slower drive. Would there by any long term reliability issue with different drives in a RAID 1? Seeing I probably won't do any upgrades to this box for at least another year or more.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

As far as I know your assumptions are all correct. You will simply be limited by the smallest/slowest drive.

Thanks for the quick reply. Now it's time to hunt down a cheapie 250GB drive... Argh... why do things have to break when I'm broke!!!
