I have been getting this error pretty frequently (Use of the CD drive) and 9 times out of 10 the dam computer just reboots. The error says attempted to start the service ImapiSercvice. Well I disabled this service so it would not conflict with Nero. Anyone know how to make it quit calling this service. The only reference I could find on MS site was to 2003 server. This is in XP Pro

you have the msblaster worm, see the other posts. Patch your system and clean it with antivirus software.

It's not the blaster worm. I am behind a hardware firewall and using Zonealarm. Not to mention I already tested that.

I've notcied the same behavior on my XP system at work. I'm fully patched and up-to-date virus scans don't report any problems. I'm also behind corporate and localhost firewalls. Reboots seem to have started last Thursday (07 Aug.) before the big Blaster spin-up this week.

Thankfully, my system hasn't mysteriously rebooted in the last 36 hours or so.

Well I think it was happening either due to Nero or the fact that My date on my computer mysteriously changed to two months ago. As soon as I set that back I have had no problems. Ofcourse I have not used Nero yet either. I downloaded Alcohol120% and have been using that.

Greets... do any of you notice any specific pattern of time that it reboots? My system can stay on for any amount of time, even had it on for like 12 hours.

I used Nero, it froze, so I shut it... got one of those Windows "Send/Don't Send" messages... then opened up windows explorer, and it rebooted..

Using XP Pro corporate SP1.

Checked for Blaster, applied that 026 patch from microsoft, as well as have latest dat/engine from McAfee... any advice would be helpful.

I have since unistalled Nero and am using Alcohol120%. So I am not sure if it was the Date/time issue or the Nero but I am suspecting Nero.

Turns out it was a bad stick of memory... Tested using memtest86 and sure enough it was bad... after removing the bad stick, all was fine.
