Rebooting the server 1-2 times a week...needed?

I work for a company of ~10 people. Our server runs Outlook, Quickbooks, and some other things. Our net admin sends out a message 1-2 times a week saying that he is going to reboot the server (runs Win 2003, I think)

Does this seem like overkill? Or is this normal?

Why would he have to do it. My video editing, BOIC crunching, 1TB storing Windows XP HOME Server hardly ever gets booted unless there's an MS update 😕.
