I will start with my specs....

asus nvx8 2800 barton (not OC) gig of corsair ram pc2700 120 gig WD HD 40gig wd harddrive on IDE ata 100 winxp 9700pro 480w true power

K....

Basically within the first 2 minutes of boot (from windows load screen on) there is around a 70% chance that i will hard freeze or just reboot. I think i was able to make it consistantly reboot for a while by just right clicking a bunch when windows loaded up, but that hasnt worked lately. I have tried just one stick of each ram and it still did it. I have tried unhooking my 40 gig... I have tried another video card and it didnt have the problems BUT it was a brief test and its hard for me to borrow it (roommate gets sad), and the fact that i can play games all day long if i can get past that first few minutes makes me think its not video card related.

My only thought left is its my main HD the 120 gig and when it access or gets reving in the beginning there is a chance it freezes up. But before i attempt to shuffle data around to use only 40 gig thought id get some suggestions =)

What voltage is your memory being run at? If it's at Auto, set it manually to 2.7 volts and see if that changes the situation.

Try leaving the computer sitting in the bios. Does it reboot or reset there? If not, you might have a windows issue. Try safe mode, try a repair, or format. Also, what temps are you running at?

Temps are all normal i think 37ish range for processor and 29ish for inside. I just ran a bunch of memory tests and they seem to be doing fine and this compuer 'was' stable for prolly 6 months so i am not sure why changing the voltage would make a difference. Also I have tried reinstalling windows already from a ghost i had made before and it still was doing it.... I suppose I could try a total fresh install....

Yeah, I would recommend a fresh install. You could also test out the hard drives with the diagnostic from the drive maker to make sure your hard drives are ok.

Both harddrives passed the 'quick diag' running a full one now but I guess a fresh start is the way to go... So much for ghosting helping out =)
