Reboot without warning?????????

I have a 1.2 Athlon with 256mb PC 133 and I can be surfing on the net or playing a game and all of a sudden this damn thing just restarts. What can cause this??????????

Any help is greatly Appr.

Could be overheating. Check your temperatures using Motherboard Monitor or something. If its getting above 50 degrees (well, maybe 55), then it might be getting too hot.

In 99% of the cases I've read here, it's your power supply.

Are you on Team AnandTech? :)

Most likely to be power.

Even if you didn't OC your CPU, just check your temperatures. You shouldn't be over the 50 degree C mark.

More likely than not, the PSU is your source of trouble.

More system specs pls :).

I had a similar problem with my 1.2 Athlon on an IWill KK266. My PC would shut down and sometimes restart during installation from certain CDs.

I thought it was the PS, but when I upgraded to the newest VIA drivers, my problems disappeared.

Could be heat, could be drivers, could be ps. Heat issues are not isolated to the cpu(my 1.2/266 Tbird has been as high as 66c with no problems), the chipset or videocard can also cause overheating restarts.

thanks for all the help. Since i have reformatted my hard drive i hav not had any problems. I do not know if that had anything to do with it or not.
